Creating respectful workplaces

Workplaces across Australia are holding a mirror up to their policies, practices, and cultures in relation to sexual harassment claims in the workplace. Most workplaces do not possess adequate skills to intervene when issues are raised, to manage the mental health and wellbeing implications for all parties involved, and to coach managers to have the difficult conversations that these situations require.

If employees are not willingly reporting sexual harassment or other disrespectful workplace behaviours, it’s likely that the organisation doesn’t have a psychologically safe culture. As a result, victims, witnesses, or bystanders may feel as though the risk and negative consequences of speaking up is too great. This often creates the gap between documented policies and procedures, and actual workplace behaviour and culture.

For organisations to create a truly psychologically safe and respectful workplace, systemic issues need to be addressed from an organisational, team, and individual level across prevention, intervention, and recovery. The following services will assist your organisation in translating policy to action, and not just words on a page.
